In response to the complex crisis now facing media in the Middle East and North Africa, defenders of free expression and independent media in the region must increasingly look to cross-border strategies to strengthen independent media in the region. That was the conclusion of 40 prominent media experts, journalists, scholars, and activists from across the region who gathered in Beirut in September, 2019, to formulate a shared vision for tackling the crisis.
